The Senior Manager, Designer contributes to the Lighthouse Events team (internal agency), ensuring team and individual goals support the bank’s business strategies and objectives. Works under the direction of the Director, Agency and Event Management to consult with Business Line and Corporate Functions partners to build event design, including vision, flow and assets required to transform creative ideas into tangible experiences. Leads a team to ensure events are brought to life with flawless execution, on time and on budget. These events are highly visible and involve clients, business partners as well as senior-level executives. The role requires innovative and sophisticated event design, the ability to manage senior stakeholders, and professional, courteous representation of the organization within the Bank’s regulatory and risk framework. It demands creativity, an eye for aesthetics, and the ability to envision and implement cutting-edge event experiences that leave a lasting impact on attendees and shape industry trends. Responsibilities Lead the exploration, ideation, and articulation of a strong design vision for events that set the standard for creativity, aesthetics, and overall experience, focusing on the quality of the user experience and relevant solutions. Identify and introduce innovative ideas that stay at the forefront of industry trends, design innovations, and emerging technologies relevant to event experience; incorporate them into concept and execution. Integrate Business Line and Bank brand themes into the experience to present a cohesive narrative aligned with event and business goals. Provide clear and inspiring creative direction to the team, ensuring alignment with the design vision through execution. Collaborate with vendors (lighting designers, artists, architects, technologists) to enhance event design and experience. Utilize visual storytelling to convey the event narrative and engage attendees emotionally. Lead creative development through inspiration boards, attendee journey mapping, persona agenda design, and mood boards. Champion sustainable design practices with eco-friendly materials and methods. Identify business goals and develop attendee journeys/experience maps across events. Act as the Lighthouse Events point of contact for senior internal client relationships, understanding objectives, audience, and tone to deliver superior experiences. Deliver design presentations to SVP+ stakeholders, communicating vision, rationale, and benefits. Guide client conversations with clear recommendations and rationale; manage stakeholder budgets and communicate budget impacts and trade-offs. Provide guidance on event logistics based on objectives; anticipate issues and collaborate with teams, vendors, and clients to resolve them. Identify risks to timelines and develop solutions to meet deliverables while managing client and team expectations. Accountability & Team Management Oversee a team of 3+ to ensure designs are executed flawlessly, within budget, and aligned with client priorities. Set priorities for multiple events and manage event budgets; collaborate with Financial and Operations Management to monitor budgets and forecasts; ensure timely budget reconciliations. Establish processes ensuring Third-Party Risk Management, Procurement, Vendor Onboarding, and Expense Policy compliance. Lead brainstorming and ideation sessions with team, vendors, and stakeholders; partner with internal teams to identify solutions, products, and technologies for the attendee journey. Review complex venue contracts to ensure compliance with event, regulatory requirements. Requirements & Skills Degree or Diploma Minimum 5 years of event and marketing experience (experience in Financial Services or Wealth Management Event Marketing is an asset) Minimum 3 years leading program teams in planning and execution of events Minimum 3 years of full-cycle industry experience (incentive travel program experience with a 3rd party supplier is a strong asset) Passion for event trends, innovation, and creative brand translation into live design Advanced expertise in broadcast and event environments for online and in-person audiences Experience with a wide range of media, platforms, and venues; collaboration with production and multimedia teams Ability to create a wow factor for innovative events (virtual/in-person) including international incentives Proven ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders Strong strategic thinking and ability to solve business and communication challenges in partnership with mid to senior level clients Collaborative, inspirational, and effective with cross-functional teams Excellent EQ and communication, with ability to manage up and across Industry involvement and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends Ability to travel to off-site venues as needed Familiarity with basic accounting principles; attention to detail and diligent follow-up Problem-solving under pressure and strong resolution skills Working Conditions High-mobility environment with moderate to extensive travel domestically and internationally Fast-paced with tight deadlines and last-minute requests requiring escalation to the Director Significant evening and weekend work may be required Valid passport and driver’s license required Overtime-exempt position Location Location: Canada, Ontario, Toronto Seniority level Mid-Senior level Employment type Full-time Job function Business Development and Sales Industries Banking Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at Scotiabank.
