Junior Systems Engineer

Overview Thales Canada, Defence & Security is engaged in supporting the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) through its In‑Service Support (ISS) Programs. We are looking for a Junior Systems Engineer to contribute to Engineering Change work on the AJISS program. Location Hybrid – Halifax, Nova Scotia (also Ottawa, ON or Victoria, BC). Key Responsibilities Develop preliminary and detailed designs for system and subsystem elements. Identify, characterize and analyze issues through problem reports and design reviews. Provide timely status updates. Assess impact of planned changes. Author or review technical documentation including architecture, interfaces and installation elements. Collaborate to ensure designs meet end‑user needs. Support verification and validation artifact development. Collaborate with other functions during implementation and integration. Resolve technical issues during implementation, integration and testing. Support installation and/or integration testing remotely or on customer site. Conduct research on naval systems, system requirements, standards and new technologies. Generate solutions as part of the option analysis process. Produce engineering artefacts such as first‑principles drawings, system schematics, statements of work, system requirements documents, impact analyses and technical reports. Survey and analyze shipboard systems. Plan, author and execute integration and acceptance tests. Coordinate and collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary dispersed team. Qualifications University or college degree in engineering or a related discipline. Ability to obtain clearances as specified under regulatory compliance. Preferred Experience Professional experience in design and integration of complex systems or software. Regulatory Compliance Access to Trade Controlled Items and Controlled Goods. Required rapid security clearance at NATO Secret Level.
