Our client, a leading Canadian mechanical contractor, is seeking an Estimator / Planner to join their team on a permanent basis. This role will be primarily based in Burnaby, BC, with some time spent at the company's head office in Port Coquitlam.

The company specializes in heavy industrial projects, including plant shutdowns, turnarounds, and complex mechanical installations across the Oil & Gas, Mining, Pulp & Paper, and Power Generation sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for heavy industrial projects, including turnarounds, maintenance, and capital projects.
  • Analyze project specifications, drawings, and scope requirements to develop comprehensive work plans.
  • Develop scheduling and resource planning strategies to optimize productivity and project execution.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure estimates align with actual project requirements.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and risk factors in project execution.
  • Utilize estimating software and industry tools to streamline the bidding process.

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating and planning for heavy industrial projects.
  • Strong knowledge of turnarounds, mechanical processes, piping, and pressure pipe systems.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and industry-standard planning tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • A diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
