Senior Data Engineer - GFT Join RBC Technology & Operations division to innovate across business units. Job Overview Global Functions Technology (GFT) collaborates with partners across RBC to deliver IT solutions. This role joins the Toronto Fraud & AML IT team to develop, deploy and optimise data pipelines. Responsibilities Create software for retrieving, parsing and processing structured and unstructured data. Define and build scalable ETL/ELT workflows for reporting and analytics. Develop scripts and programs for converting various types of data into usable formats. Contribute to technical design, development and implementation of applications. Work with different RBC internal teams for software feature delivery, support and bug fixes. Support project team to scale, monitor and operate data platforms for very high availability and performance. Ensure code quality, performance, scalability and responsiveness of applications. Participate in post‑implementation reviews to continually learn and share improvements. Qualifications 4+ years of professional experience in data engineering or software development. Strong programming skills in Python, Scala, Java or C++. Strong NoSQL/SQL database skills. Experience with Big Data technologies (Spark, Hadoop, Hive, Kafka, Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Elastic Search). Knowledge of object‑oriented and functional programming. Payment domain experience in retail and commercial banking (must). Experience with AML or Fraud domain (nice‑to‑have). Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and MLOps tools. Experience with DevOps practices such as CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes. Benefits & Culture We thrive on challenge, progressive thinking and teamwork.
