Data Annotation Specialist

Job Title Data Annotation Specialist (English & French) Location Fully Remote within Canada (excluding Quebec) Employment Type Part Time (20 hours per week) Overview We are seeking a passionate and detail‑oriented Data Annotation Specialist to support the evaluation and labeling of images, search queries, and other forms of data for a large enterprise client. This role requires strong critical thinking and written communication skills, allowing the candidate to understand challenging guidelines and articulate their understanding. Prior data annotation experience is preferred but not required. Responsibilities Evaluate and label images, search queries, and other data types. Apply guidelines consistently across large datasets. Resolve ambiguous cases based on annotation rules. Report edge cases or unclear instructions to team leads or developers. Maintain productivity targets while ensuring quality. Required Skills Attention to Detail – consistently identify and label subtle patterns. Basic Technical Literacy – comfortable using annotation tools and understanding data formats (text, image, audio). Consistency and Accuracy – apply guidelines uniformly across large datasets. Critical Thinking – resolve ambiguous cases. Communication – report edge cases or unclear instructions. Time Management – meet productivity targets. A high school diploma or higher. Bonus Skills Experience with annotation tools such as Labelbox, CVAT, Prodigy, Amazon SageMaker Ground Truth. Basic understanding of machine learning concepts. Quality assurance experience reviewing or validating annotations. Adaptability to evolving guidelines. Proficiency with collaboration tools like Jira, Slack, Trello. Problem‑solving mindset.
