Cloud Engineer Managed Services Location: British Columbia, Canada Key Responsibilities Cloud Infrastructure Design : Design cloud architectures and solutions that align with business requirements, selecting appropriate services, platforms, and deployment models (public, private, or hybrid). Cloud Platform Implementation : Deploy and configure cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or other providers, provisioning VMs, containers, storage, networking, and IAM policies. Automation & Orchestration : Develop automation scripts, templates, and workflows using IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible) to streamline provisioning and configuration. Security & Compliance : Implement security controls, encryption, access policies, firewalls, identity providers, and monitoring tools to protect cloud environments and meet regulatory standards. Performance Optimization : Monitor and optimize cloud-based applications, analyze resource usage, identify bottlenecks, and apply tuning strategies to improve scalability and cost efficiency. CI/CD Implementation : Build CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows to enable rapid, reliable deployment of software in cloud environments, integrating version control, build tools, testing frameworks, and deployment pipelines. Collaboration & Documentation : Work with developers, sysadmins, and security teams to integrate cloud solutions with existing systems; document architecture designs, deployment processes, and operational procedures. Qualifications Strong understanding of cloud computing principles, architectures, and best practices; hands‑on experience with AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms. Proficiency in scripting/programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation and scalable solutions. Technical problem‑solving skills, capable of tackling complex issues without established procedures. Ability to focus on internal teams and customer cloud workloads, supporting cross‑functional initiatives. Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field with focus on Cloud Computing coursework. Experience 3‑5 years of experience architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions on AWS, demonstrating application of the AWS Well‑Architected Framework. Required Licenses/Certifications AWS certification path: SysOps Administrator, Security Specialty, DevOps Engineer, Advanced Networking, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
