Project Manager - IT - Expert

Duration:12 months

Location: Hybrid, 3 days per week. Flexible, specific days depends on business needs | Downtown, Toronto


Daily Responsibilities:

Project name/description : US institutional client website (multi-year project)*

-Working with business and technical teams to develop institutional client website

The candidate is expected to be able to perform the duties outlined below on a needs basis. However, they are expected to adapt and be flexible with assigned duties. Also, the candidate will be positioned as the middle person between the technology team, and the business

• Fully accountable for team engagement to achieve deliverables and project outcomes

• Act as a catalyst and proactive escalation point to resolve issues, conflicts and remove barriers

• Manages project scope/requirements changes, multiple and competing demands and priorities determining and conveying impact on budget, time and risk using appropriate fact-based metrics/assumptions

• Provide consulting and source guidance on project initiatives including business case preparation and developing creative/alternative approaches to problem resolution

• Promote right sizing solutions with a combination of innovative, established or improved methods to get the work done and implement best practices

• Document and supervise project closure initiatives, such as client satisfaction survey and closure analysis

• Manage ongoing communication of project status, completing the weekly or monthly Project Status Reports and escalating issues to the stakeholders, Sponsor(s), steering committees and senior management


What program/technology/software knowledge is essential for this role? Describe in what capacity the selected candidate will be using it?


• Advanced proficiency with all MS Office applications, MS Project and/or Visio

• Experience with CMS or full stack web development an asset

• Experience with DotCMS (backend of a website)


Must-have Skills/Experiences and/or Education, certifications, qualifications, designations:


• 8-10 years experience managing small to medium sized projects (not looking for someone junior)

• Experience following project management best practices and methodologies

• Experience navigating ambiguity and clarifying requirements

• Knowledge of project metrics, including gathering, reporting, trend analysis, creation, and metrics

• Ability to develop project plans, and manage individual deadlines and goals though diligent and consistent follow up

• Ability to identify issues and problems, generate solutions and choose appropriate alternatives using basic root cause analysis


Nice-to-have Skills/Experience and/or Education, certifications, qualifications, designations:

• PMP certification would be an asset

• Asset Management background an asset

• Bachelor degree

• Advanced proficiency with all MS Office applications, MS Project and/or Visio

• Experience with CMS or full stack web development an asset
