Lightspeed Services organization focuses on providing foundational services that power core offerings across the Lightspeed product portfolio. We own areas including Financial Services (Payments, Capital), Scheduling Services, and Technical Services (Auth, Merchant Data). As a Staff Software Developer, you will provide technical leadership to your team and the Services organization, with a focus on building scalable and resilient systems, mentoring others, and evolving development processes from ideation to production operations. We are hiring for multiple positions across different teams within Services at Lightspeed. Responsibilities Lead others in your team and contribute toward timely delivery of key initiatives on the roadmap with minimal supervision Collaborate with Product, Design, Operations, and other teams to align stakeholders Decompose high-level requirements into development tasks and work items for delegation Evolve the technical architecture for the systems your team owns Partner with other technical leaders to evolve the overall technical ecosystem Maintain a strong commitment to engineering excellence across code quality, observability, and production operations Initiate and contribute to continuous improvement of software delivery processes and practices Mentor team members and support career development Participate in finding top talent for your team and the organization What you’ll be bringing to the team Expertise in engineering and computer science fundamentals Experience developing scalable, reliable applications on the cloud (we use GCP & AWS) Expert programming skills in Ruby, TypeScript, or JavaScript.
