Daily participation in custodial work includes, but is not limited to, instructing staff regarding housekeeping duties, communicating with the Head Custodian/Maintenance Person about scheduling and other pertinent information. District facilities will be safe, attractive, clean, and efficient for students, employees, and the community. Essential Functions Supervision Provide supervision and leadership for custodians working their assigned shift, typically 2nd or 3rd shift. Requisition of Supplies Requisition custodial supplies and equipment from the Head Custodian/Maintenance Person. General Housekeeping Duties Perform duties that may require basic mechanical cleaning equipment such as a buffer, vacuum, or cleaner. Perform exterior duties such as snow removal and trash removal as assigned. Minor Repairs Complete minor repairs to buildings and equipment, such as changing lamps in light fixtures. Report more serious custodial or maintenance items to the immediate supervisor. Safety Awareness Observe and report deficiencies in cleanliness, safety, or efficiency of District facilities. Other Functions Must be willing to work evenings and weekends. Must be willing to be reassigned to unspecified duties when required to meet special needs or emergencies such as snow removal. Other duties as requested. Qualifications Previous custodial experience preferred. High school diploma or equivalent. Special Skills Ability to operate mechanical cleaning equipment (e.g., buffers, vacuum cleaners). Proficiency with computer technology, including email, internet, word, and spreadsheet programs for communication, research, or documentation. Physical / Mental / Environmental Demands Physical Demands: Require moderate physical strength (lifting and pushing ~35 pounds, climbing ladders up to 20 feet). Must be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Sensory Abilities: Visual acuity to observe custodial equipment and plant items. Auditory acuity to assess equipment operation. Ability to speak clearly and distinctly. Temperament: Must be courteous, helpful, and cooperative with supervisors, coworkers, professional staff, students, and visitors. Mental Demands: Ability to communicate written and oral instructions to subordinate custodians daily. Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions regarding service calls, cleaning methods, supply orders, and similar communications. Environment: May include exposure to hot and cold temperatures, sudden temperature changes, noise, slippery surfaces, rain, and snow. #J-18808-Ljbffr
