Summary The Communications Officer develops, delivers, monitors and evaluates multi-channel corporate communications products, including print, web, social media, and multi-media. The Communications Officer works cooperatively with all departments for content and feedback for corporate communications, and to support communications materials produced for other departments. Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Develops and executes strategic, multi-channel communications and marketing plans by developing, delivering, and managing:Print communications materials (including newsletters, brochures, signage, presentation material, annual reports, calendars, advertisements); CCOC’s website, social media, and content management system; Graphics, photos, videos, and audio interviews; Branded collateral; Print and electronic surveys and polls; and The creation of the annual communications plan. Develops and implements communications strategies to support specific projects, issues, and initiatives:Works collaboratively with other departments, regularly informing, supporting, consulting, and reviewing ongoing projects; Ensures that all communications materials adhere to CCOC’s branding standards; and Ensures all communications materials adhere to federal and provincial standards. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of CCOC’s communication activities by:Quarterly reports on web traffic, social media growth, email campaigns, and NewsNotes readership; and Analyzing outgoing programming data. Perform other duties as requested by the Director of Tenant & Community Engagement or the Executive Director. This position supports the work of Centretown Citizens Ottawa Corporation and Cahdco. The duties of the position could vary from time to time as a result of new legislation, changes in technology or policies, in which case appropriate training may be given to enable the position-holder to undertake the new/varied work. The individual will be expected to conduct themselves in accordance with CCOC’s Mission and Values, as well as the core competencies of DEI, Service Excellence, Teamwork, Results-Orientation and Adaptability, which form an integral part of CCOC’s Performance Management Program. Education and Experience 3 years of post-secondary experience 3 years of related work experience Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements Excellent writing and copy editing Experience with plain language writing and editing Experience with website management, content management systems, analytics (WordPress, HootSuite) Intermediate ability to use Adobe Creative Suite Intermediate ability to use Microsoft Office Suite Advanced verbal and written communication in English Ability to write, edit, and communicate in French is considered an asset but not required Ability to edit and layout content in English and French Supervision and Decision-Making Considerable decision-making applies to the performance of tasks, involving the manipulation of several moderately complicated variables. Processes are supported by numerous, well-defined methods and established procedures Responsible for regularly assigning, checking, and maintaining workflow of other employees or contractors Works under general direction, must be able to think independently and create solutions Moderate impact if errors are made Occasional use of confidential information Normal office environment. Periods of light physical activity (for example, intermittent sitting, standing, or reading). Some degree of physical skill and coordination required (for example, basic keyboarding) Comfortable physical working environment The incumbent may be exposed to moderate stress Occasional work outside business hours for events Employee and Family Assistance Plan (EFAP).
