We are seeking a Head of Marketing to join our growing team and lead Optix's marketing efforts. As the Head of Marketing, you will report directly to the CEO and be their trusted partner in developing and executing a comprehensive B2B SaaS marketing strategy that positions Optix as the category leader in the coworking management software market. You will lead a team of marketing professionals, collaborating cross-functionally with sales, product, and customer success to drive business success. Your strategic vision and hands-on approach will be instrumental in driving revenue growth and will play a significant role in shaping Optix's strategic planning.

This is a high-impact role where you will be a key player in the decision-making process of our brand evolution, marketing execution, customer growth, and product development. We're looking for a leader who has an entrepreneurial spirit, a passion for helping shape the future of real estate technology, and the energy and discipline to be a builder in a start-up tech environment.

You are a results-oriented marketing professional with a proven track record of success in leading marketing for a company in a fast-paced, competitive industry. We are not looking for a brand marketer for this role, but someone who is experienced in demand generation marketing for B2B SaaS and excited by the prospect of owning a lead generation and pipe generation target. This role is both strategic and tactical, so we are looking for someone who can wear different hats and thrive in a fast-paced environment. We take pride in our data-driven approach to marketing—if you don't like data analysis and numbers, this isn't the role for you.

Note: This is a hybrid opportunity for someone based in Vancouver, BC (50% in our beautiful water-front Gastown office, 50% from home).

Requirements

Who you are

  • You have 4+ years of experience leading a marketing team and all marketing functions in B2B SaaS, even better if you were marketing to SMBs
  • You've successfully built and scaled the Marketing function of an early-stage startup and are excited to push your abilities in a new role
  • You have been in Demand Gen roles previously (preferably at a Director level) and have held, met, and grown a lead commit
  • You have deep experience in several areas of Marketing (Content & Brand, Demand Gen, Product Marketing, and Marketing Operations), and broad exposure to the many other facets
  • You have strong discipline of customer development and research; you champion the voice of the customer throughout the organization
  • You're excited to navigate and implement the full scope from high-level strategy to small execution details
  • You have the ability to work independently and within the team in a rapid-paced environment with a determined "get the job done" mindset
  • You're a highly organized and conscientious worker with die-hard optimism and a can-do attitude. You can see projects through from ideation to execution
  • You have a data-first approach and the ability to use both quantitative data (e.g. metrics, analytics) and qualitative data (e.g. user feedback) to build your Marketing strategy, tell a compelling story and track performance
  • You are entrepreneurial, strategically imaginative, creative (if we haven't mentioned it enough) and always focused on adding value
  • You are a team player, you have previously worked with different kinds of people, you know how to lead a team and you are not afraid to defend your ideas with research
  • You have strong communication & cross-functional collaboration skills. You're comfortable working cross-functionally with stakeholders and can manage competing views to drive alignment and resolution
  • You are a self-starter who loves to dive right into your work and get things done. You operate with an ownership mentality for all areas of your work, and keep any commitments you make. You have experience creating clear roadmaps to success and are energized by the idea of owning that process for Marketing here at Optix too
  • You are self-aware and have a high EQ. You consistently seek out feedback and enjoy giving feedback to others too - you know we all do better when we grow together. You enjoy learning, and would go so far as saying you are ahead of industry trends at all times, and can't wait to bring this knowledge to your team

What You'll Do

Strategy and Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a marketing strategy to exceed growth targets and rapidly scale Optix's customer base
  • Present data-driven growth plans with proposals that outline investment and business outcomes and design marketing KPIs to manage performance and efficiency
  • Lead positioning and messaging efforts to define and launch a new category
  • Track, manage and implement a yearly marketing plan, budget, and calendar to ensure results are optimized
  • Provide regular marketing reports and key business metrics to the CEO and rest of the leadership team, reporting the performance of digital marketing campaigns, and assess against goals (ROI and KPIs)
  • Strategically lead all areas of marketing: digital marketing, marketing database, email, social media, SEM, and paid advertising campaigns to gain brand awareness and drive sales
  • Drawing from your experience scaling high performance marketing teams in a B2B SaaS environment, define the optimal team structure to help us scale, as well as grow our Marketing Team by attracting the best and brightest talent
  • Coach and mentor the Marketing Team to achieve top performance, developing individual skills, removing roadblocks, prioritizing tasks, and consulting as a trusted advisor
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and competitor activities to inform marketing strategies as well as evolving B2B SaaS marketing trends to ensure we are building a best-in-class marketing organization

Demand Generation:

  • Own full accountability for the overall performance of Demand Gen and define, design, and deliver effective strategies to support revenue growth, such as driving high quality leads and funnel/pipeline generation
  • Clearly articulate Optix's ICP with Sales, and create a plan to target and acquire leads from ICP

Customer Advocacy & Marketing:

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our various user personas, becoming a champion of customer insights within the organization
  • Develop strategies focused on existing customers, working with our CS team to drive customer adoption, engagement, and retention - and generate insights from our client base
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align marketing efforts with overall business objectives, including working with the Product team to lead the marketing of new features and functionality to both existing and prospective clients
