Managing the design process from concept to preliminary to detailed design. Ensuring department deliverables are produced in accordance with budget, schedule, quality, and technical requirements. Coordinating the design interface between the Nuclear Steam Plant (NSP) and Balance of Plant (BOP) portions of a nuclear power plant. Ensuring work is conducted in accordance with applicable Engineering and Quality Assurance procedures, contract, specifications, and technical requirements. Interfacing with stakeholders—Engineering peers, Procurement, Construction representatives, and prospective equipment/system vendors—to ensure system designs meet performance, safety, regulatory requirements, and are constructable, operable, and maintainable. Approving engineering documents and deliverables. Removing barriers that could impact quality, cost, and schedule performance. Forecasting resource demands for the assigned scope, including required skills, capabilities, and durations. Managing a team of 10–20 engineering staff, fostering a positive and high‑performing work environment through coaching and recognition. Championing safety as a core value and promoting the use of human performance tools to enhance operational excellence. Collaborating with Functional Managers on recruitment, providing performance feedback, and supporting continuous improvement. About You Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering, or a related field from an accredited university. Registered Professional Engineer in a province of Ontario, in good standing. 10 years of process system analysis and design, with 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams. 5 years of nuclear and/or CANDU technology experience is an asset. Experience managing engineering work with significant interfacing requirements with other engineering teams including Licensing, Safety Analysis, Civil/Structural, and Electrical/I&C. Experience working within a Quality Management System (CSA N286) and quality standards (CSA N299). Experience managing and/or performing work under nuclear codes and standards such as CSA N285 and ASME Section III. Experience performing heat balance and thermal‑hydraulic evaluations. Knowledge of analytical tools used for mechanical and process design (e.g., ANSYS, Mathcad, Flomaster, CATHENA or similar) is an asset. Proven track record of performance in a multidiscipline, dynamic, project delivery environment. Excellent organization and time‑management skills. Willingness to travel to project sites as needed (note: the home office is in Mississauga, Ontario).
