About the role: This role is perfect for someone who is seeking to join a team of driven and entrepreneurial professionals in the mortgage industry. This individual will have a proven track record in developing and maintaining broker partnerships. Leveraging strong organizational skills and an established underwriting process will allow them to provide flawless and efficient service while adhering to the highest credit quality standards. Account management will be key, and this person will not hesitate to pick up the phone or meet with brokers in person to achieve targets. Strive is focused on providing brokers with the best experience when it comes to funding their prime mortgage files. A focus on relationship building, best-in-market tech, and an all‑star team to take the file from start to finish and beyond. We have partnered with all three mortgage insurers, and will be offering insured, insurable, and uninsurable products. Day to Day Responsibilities Deliver an exceptional customer service experience in every interaction. Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and approve or decline applications based on authorized lending limits and within Strive’s Residential Underwriting guidelines and current legislation. Build, maintain and enhance customer service levels. Verify and validate customer eligibility and material risk documentation for accuracy while mitigating any concerns surrounding suspected misrepresentation. Gather any necessary information required to coordinate and analyze credit applications and ensure consistent, objective, and sound credit decisions in a high‑volume environment. Analyze and submit (where applicable) applications requiring mortgage insurer approval, in compliance with guidelines. Verify data and information on mortgage applications and credit bureaus to ensure accuracy. Ensure the attainment of service standards for processing applications in accordance with company policies and procedures. Resolve any escalated credit issues, reply to client queries, and communicate credit decisions. Establish commitment targets per broker relationships in a defined portfolio that support Strive’s overall origination plan. Educate and market to both existing and new broker clients on company products and services, and present to large and small groups where required/requested. Communicate and sell the benefits of Strive to broker clients i.e. “A Better Lending Experience”; superb service; experienced and innovative leaders/team. Support in the development of volume targets, marketing and sales plan (inclusive of annual and quarterly goals) and volume forecasting. Meet with broker owners and their agents to obtain volume commitments and review results/estimates periodically. Be comfortable with difficult or unpopular decisions that may include recommendations with respect to partnerships, quality, efficiencies, etc. Provide constructive feedback where required. Attend and participate in broker related industry events throughout the region inside and outside of normal working hours. Keep up to date on applicable legislation, as well as on the company’s policies, programs, procedures, and mortgage insurer policies. Ensure awareness and compliance with all aspects of the QA program. Continuously learn, adapt, engage, and grow in your role and as an integral part of the organization. Ensure you complete training and comply with confidentiality and regulatory requirements. Act at all times in accordance with Strive’s risk appetite as defined by the RMUP. Maintain employee, customer and partner confidentiality as described by Strive’s Code of Conduct. Qualifications and Experience Minimum of 5+ years single family residential mortgage underwriting experience. Post secondary degree or diploma required. Previous experience developing and maintaining positive broker relationships. Detailed working knowledge of principles of residential mortgage underwriting and risk management, as well as real estate markets nationally. Demonstrated ability to flourish in a high-volume environment. An ability to quickly assess and make accurate decisions. Highly developed verbal and written communication skills. Commitment to grow as an individual by constantly learning and staying on top of industry changes. Strong working knowledge of all three mortgage insurer programs and guidelines. Positive attitude and commitment to drive company growth with exceptional customer service, account management, sound credit decisioning, and meticulous attention to detail.
