Your opportunity: The Office of the Registrar at U of T Mississauga delivers registrarial services to support U of T Mississauga's academic goals and U of T priorities in the areas of student information, interpretation of policies, and innovation of registrarial interactions. Reporting to the Assistant Registrar, Academic Advising Services, the Academic Advisor provides academic advising services to undergraduate students assisting them in making decisions affecting their academic progress at U of T Mississauga from enrolment through to graduation. Keeping within the goals and objectives of the Office of the Registrar, the Advisor provides clear, concise and informative communications concerning student enrolment and registration policies and procedures, applying proactive and relevant strategies that focus on retention and graduation. The Academic Advisor assists students with a wide range of academic issues and concerns, including interpretation of University requirements, policies and procedures, selection of courses and programs and meeting degree requirements. The Advisor directs students requiring specialized services to other student service areas such as Accessibility Services, the International Education Centre, Health and Counselling, Career Centre, the Robert Gillespie Academic Skills Centre, etc. The work of the Advisor is accomplished through individual in-person, virtual and electronic interactions as well as group advising sessions and seminars. The Academic Advisor works as a collaborative member of the academic advising team assisting with balancing the advising work schedule and supporting the work of the team and the Office of the Registrar as a whole. The Advisor contributes to the development of enhanced services for students to promote retention and improve the overall student experience. Your responsibilities will include: Advising students on the development of their educational plans Advising on the appropriateness, precedents and process for petitions and appeals, and suggesting alternative course of action as necessary Facilitating educational workshops and seminars Developing learning outcomes for workshops and services Developing content for instructional workshops Resolving issues within the scope of the role and escalating problems as required Providing proactive support to individuals in distress and making referrals to specific university services Essential Qualifications: Bachelor\'s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience. Minimum four years of experience advising students on the development of their educational plans Demonstrated experience advising students on academic and/or financial matters by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual\'s background Advising students on program and/or course requirements by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences Experience advising potential applicants, students, parents, and/or guidance counselors on admissions criteria and processes Analyzing course enrollment and waitlisted numbers and recommending alternatives to course availability, offerings, scheduling Experience delivering presentations to promote programs, opportunities and/or initiatives Proficiency in the use of MS Office, student information systems (e.g. ROSI and Degree Explorer) and ability to learn new applications Assets (Nonessential): Experience working in the Office of the Registrar Working knowledge of a student ticketing systems e.g. AskRegistrar To be successful in this role you will be: Accountable Adaptable Approachable Diplomatic Organized Tactful Closing Date: 02/02/2026, 11:59PM ETEmployee Group: USWAppointment Type : Budget - ContinuingSchedule: Full-TimePay Scale Group & Hiring Zone: USW Pay Band 12 -- $81,312. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $103,986.
