The Synctera Platform enables banks to manage their program through a fully compliant, scalable solution. How We Build Engineers play a hands‑on role in building and evolving our core platform. With smaller teams and fewer layers, engineers have real ownership over their work, move quickly from idea to execution, and contribute directly to technical decisions that matter. You’ll work on internal systems that must be reliable, secure, and scalable, while helping shape how the platform continues to grow and mature. Our Stack Our platform is built in Go for backend services and React with TypeScript for the Synctera Console. We’re built on Google Cloud Platform and typically use Postgres (Cloud SQL, AlloyDB), Redis (Cloud Memorystore), and Pub/Sub, with OpenAPI specifications for documentation and inter‑service communication. Infrastructure is predominantly a mixture of Kubernetes (Google Kubernetes Engine) and Cloud Run, orchestrated by Terraform and deployed with Argo. What We’re Looking For Joining the Reconciliation and Billing team as a backend software engineer, you will be instrumental in maintaining the accuracy and consistency of our financial data. This critical team is responsible for developing robust systems that process, validate, and reconcile transactions by ingesting vast amounts of information from our payment networks, ledger, and partner banks. The core mission is to establish a single, trusted source of financial truth, which involves identifying and swiftly resolving any discrepancies. The team also builds and maintains our internal billing system, ensuring all payments are accurate and timely. This work is vital for Synctera’s and our partners’ financial health and is key to ensuring regulatory compliance. What You’ll Do Build and maintain scalable, reliable backend services in Go (Golang) Develop and maintain robust backend systems for financial data processing, validation, and high‑volume transaction reconciliation Establish and maintain a single, trusted source of financial truth, including swift identification and resolution of data discrepancies Build and operate the internal billing system, ensuring accuracy, timely payments, and compliance with regulatory standards Find cleaner, simpler ways to solve technical problems and improve existing systems Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to solve engineering problems Partner with Product and Engineering teams to understand complex financial services challenges and design solutions Identify and implement process improvements and development best practices that raise the bar for quality and efficiency Advocate for and mentor software engineers in development best practices, fostering skill and knowledge‑sharing across the team What You’ll Bring 4–6+ years of professional work experience as a software engineer Experience with Go or a comparable structured and opinionated language Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases Experience with at least one major cloud provider, preferably Google Cloud Experience in using and creating RESTful APIs, which will be consumed by our frontend engineers and our customers Experience building and designing distributed systems Nice to have: experience in fast‑moving early‑stage engineering teams Nice to have: experience with Python, GitLab APIs, Google Cloud APIs Nice to have: familiarity with payment rails and financial systems Diversity & Inclusion Synctera is committed to having a workforce that is reflective of the diversity within the United States and Canada. Within the range, individual pay will be determined by work location, job‑related skills, experience, relevant training, and other factors. All positions at Synctera are remote, but candidates must be located and authorized to work in the US or Canada as a precondition of employment.
