Your Role In Supporting Our Members As a Network Architect , you will provide technical leadership in designing, administering, and optimizing Vancity’s network infrastructure. You’ll ensure stability, security, and scalability of networking platforms while collaborating across teams to implement innovative solutions that support business needs. We’re looking for a proactive, detail‑oriented professional who thrives in complex environments and brings strong problem‑solving skills to the table. This is a full‑time, permanent role based at the Vancity head office, reporting to the Manager, Network Engineering. While a hybrid arrangement is offered, you will be expected to be on‑site for events and business demands. How You’ll Make An Impact Provide technical leadership in the design, administration, operation, and configuration of Vancity’s infrastructure, focusing on networking platforms. Drive optimization of existing technologies, conduct trend analysis, and manage the full technology lifecycle within the designated practice area. Plan and implement network technologies aligned with organizational methodologies and goals. Ensure the infrastructure is stable, secure, and capable of meeting defined service level objectives. Collaborate cross‑functionally to design, develop, and implement effective network solutions. Design, develop, oversee, document, and maintain foundational network platforms (wide‑area, campus, disaster recovery, contact center, cloud, security, and wireless) to support day‑to‑day business needs, increasing security demands, and improving user experience. Provide second‑level technology support to the IT Service Desk. Resolve work orders in a timely fashion and meet business needs. Conduct and consolidate detailed qualitative/quantitative analysis for business and technology applications. Recommend optimized, cost‑effective, secure designs supporting business and technology challenges. Manage and prioritize work‑order queue, consult with internal teams and vendors to ensure effective organizational support. Commit to continuous improvements through technical trend analysis, proactive problem identification, and lifecycle management. Participate in incident response calls and provide hands‑on support during major system failures to restore operations efficiently. What You’ll Bring To The Team Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 5+ years of progressive experience in network engineering or infrastructure roles, preferably within complex enterprise or financial services environments. Experience in core network infrastructure and related technologies: switching, routing, storage, voice, load balancers, and cloud. Experience in security technologies (VPN, firewalls) and best practices. Basic knowledge of Windows infrastructure (DNS, AD, DHCP). Basic knowledge of virtualization. Knowledge of physical infrastructure (device racking, cabling, data‑center best practices, etc.). Successful completion of Cisco CCNP. Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) is preferred. Proficiency with tools for network automation, configuration management, and documentation. Familiarity with ITIL practices and structured problem‑solving in high‑availability environments. Ability to travel as needed for the role; a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required. Innovative – applies original thinking to job responsibilities and improves processes, methods, systems, or services. What You’ll Earn Salary range: $101,200 to $124,950 annually. Base pay may vary based on qualifications, skills, experience, and internal equity. Employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
