Senior Research Associate, Sustainability (Remote) Join the Conference Board of Canada (CBoC) – the nation’s largest independent applied research organization. CBoC provides unbiased, evidence‑based information and analysis to industry, NGOs, and government, addressing key public policy areas such as Innovation, Technology, Human Capital, Sustainability, and more. About the Role We are seeking a Senior Research Associate to join our Sustainability team. The successful candidate will conduct integrated, non‑partisan applied research for public and private sector decision‑makers, focusing on nuclear energy, zero‑emissions technologies, and related policy landscapes. Responsibilities Lead research projects using quantitative and qualitative methodologies. Co‑create new business opportunities through pitches, proposals, and stakeholder engagement strategies. Lead the execution and finalization of project deliverables. Conceptualize new research ideas, methodologies, and strategies to maximize impact. Provide subject‑matter expertise during client engagement and business development activities. Lead content development, stakeholder relations, speaker identification, sponsorship outreach, and event delivery for sustainability‑related leadership roundtables and convenings. Support membership growth and retention strategies for the Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Council. Demonstrate values of collaboration, ownership, excellence, evidence, passion, and integrity in all work and interactions. Commit to producing high‑quality work and professional values in all interactions with colleagues and clients. About You – Required Skills & Qualifications PhD or MSc with a strong sustainability or energy focus (e.g., nuclear energy, carbon capture and utilization, hydrogen, engineering). Deep knowledge of nuclear energy innovations, including small modular reactors and Generation IV technologies. Strong competency in analyzing environmental, economic, and social policies and their impact on zero‑emissions technologies. Asset: Knowledge of carbon utilization technologies and hydrogen. Asset: Competency in analyzing carbon markets. Asset: Experience developing data‑intensive techno‑economic models. High proficiency in analyzing and visually communicating trends in large datasets using advanced MS Excel. Leadership in project management: prioritization, time management, working under pressure, delivering high‑quality outcomes. Advanced writing skills, able to write clearly, concisely, and quickly. Advanced presentation and communication skills, condensing complex subject matter for decision‑makers. Asset: Experience organizing and chairing convenings, including moderating senior‑leader panel discussions. Demonstrated success handling multiple responsibilities, deadlines, and deliverables. Strong sense of teamwork, professionalism, and responsiveness to client needs. Passion for cross‑disciplinary collaboration and navigating uncertainty in research. Drive for impact and commitment to research excellence, integrity, and evidence. Ability to travel within Canada for client and team meetings when needed. Asset: Bilingualism.
