Team Overview We are seeking a Director of Policy & Research for the Sustainability Team to strengthen EDC’s environmental and social (E&S) risk‑management practices and lead the development and execution of E&S commitments. What You Will Be Doing Lead the development, implementation, and oversight of EDC’s ESRM policy suite and E&S positions. Draft and issue insights papers on key E&S trends and topics. Advise VPs and senior executives on E&S risk management, emerging topics, and policy implications. Identify relevant public‑policy trends, regulatory impacts, and anticipate emerging challenges. Provide industry research and analysis to internal stakeholders. Engage on developing international best practices and standards through Equator Principles, OECD Practitioners Group, and Shift Financial Institutions Circle. Maintain and develop E&S risk‑management models. Support complex financing transactions and due‑diligence practices in collaboration with the ESRM team. Integrate E&S considerations into business initiatives across functions. Contribute to human‑rights and climate reports and the Integrated Annual Report. Collaborate with the Director of Climate and Sustainable Finance and the Global Risk Management team on environmental and social risk assessment. Manage development of human‑rights and environmental metrics and public reporting with the Director of Sustainability Reporting & Outreach. Engage external stakeholders and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs). Educate employees and management on E&S‑related topics. Set team priorities and plans, monitor progress, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions. What We Are Looking For Undergraduate degree in Policy, Human Rights, Environmental Science, Business, or related field. 10+ years in a policy or risk function, preferably in the financial sector. Strong understanding of banking/financial products. Experience leading large‑organization E&S risk‑management initiatives and policy development. Experience leading cross‑functional working groups on policy, research, and communication. Strong project‑management skills. Minimum 5 years of organizational leadership experience. Excellent relationship‑building and influence management skills with senior leadership and stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to inspire and mobilise teams. Ability to align and adjust milestones and targets for continuous progress. Strong communication skills (verbal and presentation). Bilingual in English and French. What Will Make You Stand Out Master’s degree in Sustainability, Human Rights, Environmental/Climate, Finance, or related field. MBA. Experience with climate and sustainable finance methodologies (e.g., TCFD, SBTi, NGFS, ICMA Principles). Knowledge of sustainable finance frameworks (green, social, sustainability, transition, KPI) and climate accounting frameworks (e.g., PCAF, GHG Protocol).
