Job ID: | Amazon.com Services LLC Our Sr. Operations Managers are responsible for all budgetary, people development, and operations objectives. They manage and lead a team of Operations and Area Managers, coach and mentor the team to ensure performance objectives are met, build positive employee relations, and develop leadership bench strength within the Fulfillment Center. Responsibilities Drive the creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives, and other Lean initiatives to enable their functional area and ultimately the FC to meet and exceed the business plan. Ensure overall safety, quality, performance, and customer experience for either Inbound or Outbound operations. Set and clarify requirements and expectations for Operations and Area Managers; measure performance, provide feedback, and hold Ops Managers accountable for their performance and that of their departments. Leverage Operations and Area Managers by sourcing and nurturing ideas and incorporating them into improvement plans for the functional area. Take proactive steps to ensure best practices are shared across all departments, shifts, and the network. Work closely with support staff (HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT, and other Sr. Operations Managers) to secure support and resources for projects and initiatives, and provide support for other staff initiatives. Additional Job Elements Lift and move totes up to 49 pounds each. Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head. Walk frequently around the FC; facilities are over a quarter mile in length. Continually stand and/or walk an average of 5 miles daily. Work in construction/distribution environments that may be noisy, unlit, unheated, or not air‑conditioned. Access all areas of the building (ascending and descending ladders, stairs, gangways safely and without limitation). Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a technical field. 5+ years of direct management experience, including a salaried workforce, in a manufacturing, production, distribution, or logistics environment. Experience with performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean methodologies. Experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions, and terminations. Flexible to work a variety of hours, including overnight, weekends, and holidays. Preferred Qualifications Degree in Engineering, Operations, or related technical field; MBA or Master’s degree preferred. 8+ years of direct management experience, including a salaried workforce, in a manufacturing, production, or distribution environment. Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations. Interest in long‑term career development through assignments in multiple FCs across the nation. Prior leadership development training or participation. Track record of effectively leading an operation comprising both salaried and hourly staff of at least 100. Demonstrated ability to develop others into higher levels of leadership within an organization. The base pay for this position ranges from $121,500/year in our lowest geographic market to $200,900/year in our highest geographic market.
