Overview Join to apply for the Structural Engineer, Bridges role at WSP in Canada . The Opportunity WSP is currently seeking an Intermediate Engineer who has the interest and drive to join our Ontario and Atlantic Canada Bridge Team, to be based in one of our Dartmouth, Fredericton, or St. John’s offices. This is an environment where you are supported by a group of professionals with extensive experience in all facets of bridge engineering. This role involves the preliminary and detailed design of bridges and other civil structures for federal, provincial and municipal clients in Atlantic Canada and Ontario, with the opportunity to work on some of the largest projects in Canada. Our Bridge Team has a highly qualified staff experienced in bridge planning, new design, rehabilitation design, inspection, evaluation, and project administration. The firm collaborates with other teams across Ontario and Canada, sharing work and knowledge. Our senior staff have published technical papers on bridge design, rehabilitation and construction and participate on bridge code committees. What You Can Expect To Do Here Carry out preliminary and detailed analysis and design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls and other civil structures for federal, provincial and municipal clients Manage bridge engineering projects, coordinate design teams, and support project management and technical teams across WSP Prepare engineering drawings, check designs and drawings Prepare specifications, contract documents, tender forms, quantity take-offs and construction cost estimates Review shop drawings and provide engineering support during construction Carry out contract administration and construction supervision Prepare reports and proposals Undertake bridge inspections, assessments and reports Set up project meetings, record minutes, and maintain action item lists Provide technical guidance to support staff, contractors, and vendors as required Demonstrates sound written, verbal, interpersonal, analytical and application skills Works well under pressure to meet project deadlines What You’ll Bring To WSP University degree in Civil Engineering Professional Engineer with 5-10 years demonstrated experience in structural design and bridge engineering in Canada Strong technical understanding, design abilities, and knowledge of bridge technologies Working knowledge of structural analysis software used in bridge design Expertise in planning, preliminary and detail design, and construction of bridges of standard and complex geometry, and culverts; knowledge of current Canadian design codes and standards Experience with inspection, assessment and rehabilitation of existing structures Experience in report and proposal writing Effective communication and interpersonal skills Ability to manage multiple projects with multiple design teams Collaborative team player with willingness to help others Valid driver’s license About Us WSP est l’une des plus importantes firmes de services professionnels à travers le monde.
