About the role This brand‑new opportunity is for a Principal or Associate Electrical Engineer to join our newly formed Operational Assets team based in our Oxford office. You will embed yourself within client teams, setting roadmaps for sustainable futures, managing the journey from concept to implementation and operation, and providing integrated services that minimise disruption while improving building performance. Our track record spans residential, commercial and healthcare sectors, and we are looking to grow the team to meet market demand. Previous experience in the Science & Research sector is required for this position . Secure new projects and service existing and new clients while supporting the regional lead in delivery planning for the Operational Assets group. Prioritise work delivery, organisational support and team growth to support local and regional clients. Demonstrate strong leadership by providing supervision and guidance to team members and other staff. Collaborate with other teams to deliver a wide variety of projects, with regular Team Leader meetings to discuss workload and management issues. Undertake own design, specification and site monitoring. Monitor commissioning and conduct post‑occupancy engineering services activities. Write technical reports: feasibility studies, issue investigations and condition surveys. Liaise with clients (commercial and project management awareness). What You’ll Be Doing You will work on a varied portfolio of UK‑based frameworks and projects, with some overseas opportunities. You will take the lead on small projects (up to a few £million) and provide technical support to end users, landlords, management agents and project managers. Key Service Areas 1. Decarbonisation, performance improvements and energy reduction – focus on projects that reduce energy consumption, improve occupant performance and meet client decarbonisation or net‑zero targets using emerging technologies and pragmatic implementation. 2. Design – specialise in challenging existing buildings across all RIBA stages, delivering creative and innovative solutions that meet current needs and standards. 3. Property consultancy – provide a suite of services to the property market, including: Technical due diligence reports – vendors and pre‑acquisition Dilapidations surveys Planned preventative maintenance reports Licence to Alter Maintenance inspections of buildings Validation management Asset registers Troubleshooting Energy optimisation surveys EPCs Projects span all sectors, including commercial offices, retail, residential, education, healthcare, MoJ, defence, heritage, industrial and technology. About you Qualified design engineer (chartered status or working towards). Experience on projects in existing buildings (refurbishment & fit‑out). Excellent written and spoken English skills. Strong knowledge of data and metering. Experience with performance specification, detailed design work, contract administration and site duties. All‑round Building Services experience. Willingness and strong technical knowledge in primary engineering discipline plus good understanding of secondary discipline. Comfortable with UK and applicable EU regulations, design guides, etc. Excellent organisational and planning skills to meet timescales and deadlines. Able to develop effective relationships with solid interpersonal and influencing skills. Proven track record in winning work and building successful teams.
