Cloud Engineer - Core Infrastructure Remote role for the core infrastructure team at OpenTable, part of Booking Holdings, Inc. The position will transition to a hybrid schedule in downtown Toronto, 2x per week. OpenTable is an industry leader in hospitality technology, empowering restaurants and diners worldwide. The Core Infrastructure Team builds, maintains, and evolves the foundational technology stack across all environments, focusing on cloud infrastructure (AWS and GCP), on‑prem platforms, automation, and modern AI tooling. The Role Modernize legacy software stacks for the cloud, with primary focus on AWS. Migrate traditional database workloads—MongoDB and PostgreSQL—to cloud environments and support internal teams in deploying and operating Kubernetes in the cloud. Integrate with AI platforms (Bedrock, Vertex AI) to enhance operations and automation. Automate routine operational tasks via APIs to reduce manual toil for on‑prem hypervisor infrastructure, freeing time for cloud and AI initiatives. Experience with Linux operating systems is a huge plus. Responsibilities Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure in AWS and GCP, including service deployment and resource utilization. Lead evaluation and integration of new technologies, especially AI platforms (Bedrock, Vertex AI), to improve infrastructure operations. Develop and maintain automation and tooling for provisioning, configuration, and operational tasks using Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, Packer, and custom solutions. Implement and maintain disaster recovery strategies for critical services, including cross‑datacenter and cloud‑based replication. Automate administration of virtualization platforms, including VM provisioning, balancing, and patch management. Collaborate with security, networking, and data platform teams to ensure infrastructure reliability, scalability, and compliance. Oversee shared storage solutions, backup strategies, and storage protocol migrations. Participate in on‑call rotations and incident response for infrastructure‑related issues. Qualifications 3-5 years AWS experience (Solutions Architect Associate minimum); certification preferred. Familiarity with AWS CLI commands. 5 years scripting experience (bash, Go, PowerShell, Python). Bash, Go, Python, and PowerShell are prioritized. Configuration management experience (Puppet, Ansible, Terraform). Terraform is strongly preferred. Basic GitHub experience. Linux experience (preferably Ubuntu or Debian). Preferred but Not Required Google Cloud Platform certifications preferred. Experience deploying services in Kubernetes. Experience with AI platforms (Bedrock, Vertex AI). Experience with identity providers (Okta, AD, or OIDC/SAML). Okta is strongly preferred. 3-5 years experience with on‑prem hypervisors (VMware/Proxmox). 3-5 years experience with shared storage (NetApp). Benefits Generous paid vacation and “birthday” day off.
