Software Engineer, Simulations Location: Remote (Anywhere in Canada) Company Overview eDynamic Learning is celebrating 17 years of serving educators. Founded by a classroom teacher, we’re on a mission to empower educators with accessible and equitable resources, guiding students on their journey to life after graduation. We are dedicated to supporting both teachers and programs that facilitate student exploration of interests, career options, and skill acquisition through Career and Technical Education (CTE). We prioritize quality and the development of vital life readiness skills, including interpersonal communication and financial literacy. Our commitment to fostering exploration starts early, with resources tailored to middle school students. Our rich courseware catalog and Learning Blade resource have a proven track record of expanding STEM, computer science, and career interest and awareness. As the largest publisher of CTE and elective digital curriculum in North America, we offer a vast catalog of over 250 courses spanning grades 6-12. Our CTE pathway curriculum aligns to 14 career clusters, preparing students for nearly 100 industry certifications. To help bring our curriculum to learners, we provide professional development as well as virtual instructional services, supported by certified teachers, that facilitate personalized learning. eDynamic Learning doesn’t stop at coursework alone. We are passionate about helping students grow their skills through experiential learning through our Knowledge Matters virtual simulation instructional materials and projects. Our simulations are true hands‑on learning in a virtual environment. We take pride in the fact that our solutions and services are designed to empower educators and students alike, enabling them to take a transformative journey of exploration, engage in learning, and participate in real‑world experiences. In July 2025, eDynamic Learning was acquired by Pearson. Role Overview As a Software Engineer on the Simulations team, you will contribute directly to the design, implementation, and evolution of our web‑based simulation platform. This is a hands‑on engineering role focused on building new features, improving existing systems, and maintaining a high standard of quality across the codebase. You’ll work closely with a small, cross‑functional team to take features from concept through production, including implementation, testing, and monitoring. The work spans both underlying simulation logic and user‑facing interfaces, requiring a balance between correctness, performance, accessibility, and usability. This role offers meaningful ownership and influence. You’ll help shape technical decisions, collaborate closely with product and design, and take responsibility for the long‑term health of the systems you work on. Responsibilities Own the design and implementation of simulation features from concept through production, including long‑term maintenance and improvement Translate complex real‑world systems into clear, performant, and testable software models Improve and refactor existing systems to increase reliability, performance, and ease of iteration Collaborate closely with product and design to balance educational goals with technical constraints Contribute to technical direction through code review, architectural discussions, and incremental improvements Ensure our simulations are accessible, observable, and dependable in real classroom environments You'll be successful in this role if you… Enjoy taking ownership of problems and seeing work through from idea to production and beyond Like turning complex or messy real‑world systems into clear, well‑structured software Care about code quality, but also understand when pragmatism and iteration matter Are comfortable working in a collaborative, cross‑functional environment and making tradeoffs with product and design Value maintainability, accessibility, and reliability in software that people depend on Are motivated by building software with real users and clear impact, rather than abstract technical exercises Are comfortable learning unfamiliar domains and iterating toward clarity with the support of your team Ideal Qualifications Experience building web applications with TypeScript and a modern JavaScript UI framework (React preferred) Experience designing and implementing complex, stateful user interfaces Comfort working in an existing codebase and contributing production‑quality code Experience collaborating through code reviews, testing, and iterative development Ability to reason about non‑trivial logic and translate real‑world systems into software Demonstrated ability to take ownership of technical work, including making sound decisions, communicating tradeoffs, and following work through to completion Legally eligible to work in Canada. Even Better Experience with Three.js or other 3D graphics / game development technologies Background in simulation, game development, or other interactive systems Familiarity with web accessibility standards (WCAG) Experience with automated testing and production monitoring Exposure to cloud infrastructure, containers, or Linux‑based environments Experience with CI/CD tooling such as GitHub workflows We value diverse perspectives and encourage candidates from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences to apply, even if you don’t meet every requirement listed above.
