Overview The Gustavson School of Business invites applications from talented scholars for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to commence on July 1, 2026. We are seeking candidates with strong research potential who will contribute to the School’s research-intensive culture and maintain an active program of high-quality scholarly work. The Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria is one of the few North American schools that is accredited by both the European Federation of Management Development (EFMD) and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The School offers Bachelor of Commerce, Master of Management, Master of Business Administration, Master of Global Business, and PhD degrees – all of which have a sustainability focus embedded in their curriculum. We are a pioneer in integrating curriculum across business disciplines at both the undergraduate and graduate level and seek candidates who can work across traditional functional boundaries. The experiential dimension in our academic programs includes a mandatory co-op program for all undergraduate students, international exchanges, and overseas co-op work opportunities. Gustavson offers a supportive research environment, including conference travel support. Teaching responsibilities are consistent with a research-intensive business school and typically involve courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. New faculty members may receive an initial teaching reduction to support the development of their research program. Responsibilities Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in finance and related fields as appropriate to the candidate’s expertise. Develop and maintain an active, high-quality research program with a strong publication pipeline. Contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration within the business school and the university. Engage in service activities within the department, school, and university as part of a balanced academic portfolio. Qualifications Have a PhD in Finance or a related discipline (or are near completion) from a research-intensive or higher-ranked university that is AACSB and/or EFMD accredited. Candidates must have completed their PhD by the start date or be close to completion. Have published high quality research or demonstrate a strong research pipeline and potential to publish in leading finance journals. Demonstrate outstanding teaching abilities evidenced by data, testimonials and other forms of documentation. Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in an academic unit and be motivated to collaborate across disciplines within the business school and the university. Applicants should demonstrate a strong and emerging research program in finance, with particular interest in sustainable finance, impact investing, and entrepreneurial finance.
