Your Opportunity: The Lethbridge Youth Treatment Program is looking to recruit an Addictions Counsellor III to join our multidisciplinary team working with children, youth, and families in a live‑in treatment environment. As an addiction counsellor, the successful candidate will work with youth and their families to develop an understanding of the problematic substance use and how this has impacted the youth and the family. Working in collaboration with the youth, their family and other team members at the treatment centre, the addiction counsellor will support the addition of recovery‑focused goals and intervention plans that have been co-authored by the youth themselves. Working in direct service on the front line in the treatment centre, the addictions counsellor will provide individual counseling and support, group counseling and support, as well as day‑to‑day skill building, role modeling and adult supervision to the youth residing in the program. In order to meet the needs of a live‑in treatment environment, this position does require evening and weekend work. Description: As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will provide quality, client‑focused, recovery‑based and culturally appropriate assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education and referral services for clients and their families; as well as community stabilization services. You will develop and implement treatment plans and provide a range of interventions which offer least intrusive and most appropriate services to clients and their families. You will also monitor and evaluate client progress and achievement of recovery goals and adapt treatment as needed. A related degree combined with a diploma related to addictions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Individuals eligible for registration under the Health Professions Act (Alberta) must maintain active registration. Individuals may require authorization/permission under regulation to perform restricted psychosocial interventions and/or restricted activities.
