We’re one global team driven by our common purpose to deliver a better world. Join us. Job Description Senior Consultant — AECOM Sydney, Nova Scotia, is hiring a Senior Consultant / Advisor. The Senior Consultant / Advisor will provide senior‑level strategic advisory services to support the planning and advancement of transportation and enabling infrastructure required for Canada’s critical minerals sector. The role focuses on identifying optimal road, rail, port, and intermodal infrastructure alignments to support multiple active and planned mining developments, developing high‑level capital cost estimates, and contributing to a national goods‑movement strategy that strengthens Canada’s supply‑chain resilience and self‑sufficiency. Responsibilities Provide senior‑level strategic advisory support related to infrastructure required to enable critical minerals development across Canada Identify and assess road, rail, port, and intermodal infrastructure alignments required to support mine development, materials handling, and downstream logistics Evaluate infrastructure capacity gaps and develop order‑of‑magnitude capital cost estimates for required transportation investments Advise on goods‑movement strategies nationally, including rail, trucking, marine, and port interfaces Align infrastructure strategies with mining development timelines, regulatory considerations, and investment priorities Provide clear, actionable recommendations to senior public‑sector decision‑makers, Boards, and executive stakeholders Support coordination among governments, infrastructure owners, Indigenous partners, and industry stakeholders Prepare briefing notes, strategic options analyses, and executive‑level presentations Qualifications Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Engineering, Infrastructure, Transportation, or a related discipline Extensive years of progressive experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education Minimum 6 years of leadership experience, including leading teams, programs, or multi‑disciplinary initiatives Demonstrated experience in infrastructure planning, engineering management, project advisory, or transportation systems Proven ability to assess complex infrastructure systems and translate technical, cost, and logistics information into strategic advice Experience working with public‑sector entities, Crown corporations, or large institutional clients Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting mining, critical minerals, materials handling, or resource‑based infrastructure projects Strong background in rail, port, marine, and multimodal transportation systems Experience acting in an Owner’s Engineer, senior advisory, or program‑level consulting role Familiarity with capital program planning, cost estimation, and large‑scale infrastructure investment decisions Experience advising Boards, senior executives, and public‑sector leadership Understanding of Indigenous, regulatory, and stakeholder engagement considerations in major infrastructure projects Additional Information Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position. Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $130 to $150.
