Assignment:

Temporary replacement labourer position

Duties to commence May 31, 2024 and will continue until April 30, 2025

Potential to become a full-time permanent position

Requirements:

Provide own set of hand tools

Hold a valid driver’s license

Selected individual must be able to be on their feet for extended periods of time, lift up to 50lbs and able to work in confined spaces.

Willingness to work in a collaborative, high paced team environment

Ability to understand and follow instructions

Carpentry/Mechanical background would be considered an asset

Effective oral communication

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in the maintenance, and repair of all facilities, grounds and equipment under the care of the Facilities Department.

Ability to operate skid steer for required snow removal.

Identify areas requiring repairs or maintenance and, if of a minor nature, complete the required repairs or maintenance. If extensive repairs or maintenance is required, advise the Facilities Administration or appropriate co-worker.

Recommend to the Facilities Administration procedures that may improve the operation of the Facilities Department.

Be familiar with the service requirements of equipment and facilities under the care of the Facilities Department.

With the prior approval of Facilities Administration purchase supplies and materials necessary in completing assigned duties.

Be aware of safe working procedures and follow safe working procedures and practices in carrying out your assigned duties.

Assist in the relocation of equipment and furnishings as required.

Maintain a liaison with other departments and work in cooperation with other departments and employees.

Conduct yourself in a manner that will promote a positive image of the Facilities Department.

Perform other duties as may be directed by Facilities Administration or the direct job supervisor.

Employment Conditions:

Normal hours of work are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Forty (40) hour week minimum. This may vary from time to time according to workload.

Position is based out of the Ponoka Maintenance Shop

Classification: Labour-Maintenance 3 as per Facilities Support Staff Employment Conditions Handbook.
