Senior Electrical Engineer - Buildings (Centre Block) Join to apply for the Senior Electrical Engineer - Buildings (Centre Block) role at WSP in Canada Overview This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join the iconic Centre Block Project which is in Ottawa. This position can also support the project from one of the WSP offices in Toronto. The Centre Block is a national landmark, housing the Senate and the House of Commons. You will join an incredibly innovative team as they modernize and future proof the Centre Block Heritage Building. What you can expect to do Provide leadership in the development of leading-edge engineering solutions for the various electrical and electronic building systems, including low voltage power distribution (including emergency power and UPS), lightning protection and grounding, fire detection and voice alarm, public address, passive telecommunications and security systems infrastructure, lighting and lighting controls systems, and external underground services infrastructure. Develop technical drawings and specifications. Collaborate in a multi-disciplinary work environment with architects, engineers, and electrical and mechanical trade contractors to arrive at integrated design solutions which are fully constructible. Provide guidance, mentorship, and positive direction to less experienced team members to help them take on more complex technical challenges. Conduct quality reviews throughout the design process to ensure best practice design principles are followed and that the design meets applicable codes and standards to satisfy the requirements of the authority having jurisdiction. What you’ll bring Must be licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario. Minimum 12 years electrical engineering and design experience on major complex building projects – experience with large scale, heritage designated projects is an advantage. Experience working in different delivery models – CM, Design Build, P3 – is required. Working knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, Ontario Electrical Safety Code, National Building Code of Canada and the Ontario Building Code. Detailed understanding of LEED v4.0 and ASHRAE standards. Working knowledge of CAN/ULC Standards for Life Safety Systems. Proficient in MS Office Applications. To qualify for this role, you must be eligible for Canadian Federal Government Enhanced Reliability clearance. This is a mandatory requirement to work with this client.
