WSP is currently seeking an Experienced Electrical Designer to join our Buildings BC team in Vancouver. Job Description Reporting to an Electrical Team Lead, this position will be responsible for electrical design, leading documentation preparation, construction reviews, administration, client communication, and project management. Responsibilities Design electrical systems for a wide variety of building types and locations throughout BC and the Yukon. Manage project assignments within the electrical buildings field, including power distribution, infrastructure, lighting, life safety, communications, data and security systems from opportunity and proposal stages through design and construction. Collaborate with a design team of electrical engineers and technicians to develop technical solutions, prepare project drawings and specifications, and review fieldwork. Communicate with clients, design partners, authorities and contractors. Design power distribution (normal and backup), infrastructure, lighting, fire alarm, data and security systems for healthcare and institutional/commercial sectors. Ensure all electrical design complies with the BC Building Code, Canadian Electrical Code and other applicable codes. Adopt and practice safe work procedures. Maintain accurate and prompt project tracking, management and billing while adhering to budgets and timelines. Prepare condition reports, feasibility studies, load calculations using industry-standard software. Select systems and equipment, prepare project specifications, and coordinate preparation of drawings using CAD and BIM software. Contribute to fee proposals and business development activities as requested. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in electrical design consulting for buildings and infrastructure. Strong verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD. Experience with AGI or ETAP is an asset. Ability to deliver comprehensive design submissions under demanding timelines. Experience creating tender document packages with drawings and specifications. Experience with site reviews of building electrical systems. Understanding of building construction, electrical systems and infrastructure. Detailed knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, BC Building Code and the National Building Code of Canada. Compensation Expected Salary: $78,600 to $108,100 per year. Compensation will be based on education, experience, skills and location.
