Other great benefits to working at the City of Woodstock: Join a growing and dynamic organization offering rewarding careers Training opportunities to support you in this role Option to join a Defined Benefit Pension Plan (OMERS) where employee contributions are matched by the City And a great working environment for individuals committed to making a difference, just to name a few Duties and Responsibilities Review the City’s Health and Safety-related Procedures and Programs for compliance with regulatory requirements, applicable standards, and guidelines Observe various job duties/operations for compliance with applicable legislation and/or city policies/procedures Identify ergonomic hazards i.e. improper lifting techniques, awkward postures, and repetitive motion Assist city supervisors with departmental training needs assessment and the development and delivery of safety-related training programs Departments include: Public Works (water distribution, waste & recycling collection, road maintenance, and garage), Engineering, Parks, Arenas, Aquatics, Culture, and Administrative Services Provide support to the City’s Joint Health and Safety Committees And all other duties as assigned Qualifications Currently enrolled in or have completed post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety Previous knowledge and/or working experience in the areas of the OHSA and Regulations, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, training program development & delivery, and workplace inspections are considered an asset Strong organizational and time management skills; able to handle fluctuating work volumes Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with minimal supervision Effective written and verbal communication skills Proficient in MS Office Suite Must have a Class G2 driver’s license in good standing, with use of a reliable vehicle This position is being considered under the Canada Summer Jobs Grant program.
