Overview Phreesia is seeking a seasoned and visionary Director of User Experience (UX) to elevate the role of design across our organization. This is a unique opportunity to shape and champion a business-driven, AI-enabled UX strategy that transforms how patients, providers, and clients experience healthcare. As our Director of UX, you will lead, guide, and inspire a growing team of designers, cultivating a culture built on clarity, innovation, and measurable impact. You will collaborate with senior executives, product leaders, and engineers to ensure user experience is a core driver of business outcomes and product success. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in user experience, strong executive presence, AI adoption, and the ability to translate complex design insights into business language that influences decisions at the highest levels. You are a mentor and a strategist, empowering design teams and driving organizational outcomes. Phreesia is a fully remote company; however, candidates located in ET and CT regions are given priority in the hiring process. What You\'ll Do Strategic Leadership Define and drive Phreesia’s UX vision, ensuring it is aligned with business goals, market opportunities, and AI-driven innovation. Serve as a senior design voice in executive forums, influencing strategy and investment decisions with clear, persuasive communication. Team Development and Culture Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing UX team with integrity, empathy, and accountability. Build a design culture that values experimentation, evidence-based decision making, and cross-functional collaboration. Business and Product Alignment Partner with product, engineering, other internal stakeholders, and clients to develop and validate design solutions that improve usability, adoption, and satisfaction. Translate user research and design insights into actionable recommendations that resonate with executive stakeholders. Design Excellence and Innovation Ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality, intuitive, and accessible user experiences across products. Introduce modern design methods, including AI-driven insights, to accelerate research, prototyping, and testing. Champion metrics-driven design improvements tied to utilization, engagement, and business impact. What You\'ll Bring Bachelor\'s degree required 10+ years in UX/UI design, with at least 6+ years in leadership roles scaling design organizations in fast-paced, high-growth environments Proven track record of influencing executive decision-making with clear, outcome-focused communication Demonstrated success in aligning design strategies to business goals, including the integration of emerging AI technologies Deep expertise in usability research methods—both qualitative and quantitative—and applying findings at scale Executive presence with the ability to communicate design value and strategy to C-level stakeholders Strong people leadership skills with a track record of developing, coaching, and retaining top design talent Exceptional executive communication skills; able to articulate complex design insights in business terms Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills Fluency in modern design tools, prototyping, and agile product development practices Strong understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles Ability and comfortability to travel in the U.S. and/or Canada for team meetings, clients and off-sites as required Who We Are At Phreesia, we’re looking for smart and passionate people to help drive our mission of creating a better, more engaging healthcare experience.
