Overview We are looking for a Backend Engineer II to join our team and build the core engine that powers the Procurify platform. You will be a key contributor to the server-side systems that handle complex business logic, data storage, and API services, directly impacting the performance, reliability, and scalability of our entire application. Role : Backend Software Engineer II — 100% Remote, Canada What You’ll Be Working On Build & Ship Scalable APIs and Services: design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services using Python and Django. Design & Optimize Database Schemas: contribute to database model design and write efficient, secure queries to ensure performance and data integrity. Champion Code Quality: write clean, efficient, testable, and reusable code; participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback. Strengthen System Architecture: collaborate on technical designs to ensure architectural soundness and scalable backend systems. Ensure System Reliability: investigate and resolve defects, performance bottlenecks, and issues affecting the monolith. Tech Stack: Application: Python/Django, Typescript/React; Cloud: AWS; Infrastructure & Containers: AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform; Databases: MySQL; CI/CD: CircleCI Who We’re Looking For Backend Experience: 3+ years of professional backend development experience, preferably in a SaaS environment. Python Proficiency: strong experience with Python and a major web framework (Django). API Design Skills: solid understanding of RESTful API design and experience building and consuming APIs. Database Knowledge: experience with relational databases (MySQL), including schema design and query optimization. Agile & Collaborative: experience with Agile practices (Scrum/Kanban) and CI/CD; thrives in a team environment. Problem Solver: strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to work autonomously on complex features.
