About The Role We are seeking a Unity-focused developer to lead the creation of XR applications. The role focuses on Unity development for mobile devices and dedicated XR hardware while supporting native companion applications on iOS and Android. Key Responsibilities Unity & XR Development Architect, build, and maintain high-performance Unity applications for mobile (iOS/Android) and dedicated XR devices (Meta Quest, XREAL, Apple Vision Pro). Develop and implement engaging Augmented Reality (XR) features using C# and modern frameworks like AR Foundation and spatial SDKs like Immersal. Profile and optimize applications to ensure smooth frame rates, efficient memory usage, and responsible battery consumption across all target platforms. Support Native Companion Apps Maintain and support our existing native applications on iOS and Android. Implement updates to the UI, manage content within the app catalogs, and ensure the stability of video/data streaming features. End‑to‑End Application Management Manage the full application lifecycle, from design to post‑launch support. Handle the submission and update process for the Apple App Store and Google Play Store for both Unity and native apps. Collaborate with backend engineers to define and integrate with APIs. Qualifications and Experience Unity & XR Expertise (Primary Skill) Deep professional experience developing with Unity and C#. Proven track record of building and shipping XR (Augmented or Virtual Reality) applications. Strong experience with XR frameworks like AR Foundation (ARKit/ARCore) and familiarity with hardware such as Meta Quest. Native Mobile Development (Secondary Skill) Familiarity with native mobile development for iOS (Swift/UIKit) and Android (Kotlin). Comfortable navigating an existing codebase to make updates and fix bugs. Core Technical Skills Experience with REST APIs, JSON, and client‑side data management. Proficiency with Xcode, Android Studio, and Git. Mindset Product‑focused developer passionate about immersive user experiences and quality performance. Nice to Have Knowledge of video streaming protocols and media player libraries. Experience with shaders and advanced rendering techniques in Unity. Experience with mobile CI/CD automation tools like Fastlane. Understanding of 3D math, rendering pipelines, and performance optimization for real‑time applications. Location Mawari’s Canadian office is at the Waterloo Accelerator Centre, adjacent to the University of Waterloo campus in Waterloo, Ontario.
