Network Admin/ Virtualization NSX Engineer The Operations Specialist – AVI & NSX is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing the organization's application delivery and network virtualization platforms, specifically AVI Networks (VMware NSX Advanced Load Balancer) and VMware NSX. The role will ensure seamless operations, high availability, and secure network environments while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver best‑in‑class infrastructure solutions. Key Responsibilities Platform Administration: manage, monitor, and maintain the health and performance of AVI Networks (NSX ALB) controllers and service engines; perform daily operational checks, troubleshooting, and incident resolution for NSX‑T and AVI‑related issues; execute routine maintenance, upgrades, and patching for both NSX and AVI components. Incident & Problem Management: respond to and resolve incidents, service requests, and outages related to AVI and NSX environments; troubleshoot and analyze root causes, implementing corrective actions. Configuration & Change Management: implement configuration changes and updates per change management processes; configure and manage Advanced Load Balancer (ALB) features, including Virtual Services, Pools, Health Monitors, SSL/TLS Offloading, GSLB; deploy and operationalize network security policies, micro‑segmentation, and Distributed Firewall rules within the VMware NSX‑T environment; use automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python) for provisioning and configuration of NSX and AVI resources; document configurations, processes, and procedures. Performance Optimization: monitor platform performance and proactively identify areas for improvement; tune load balancing, network segmentation, and security policies; identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in the application delivery path and underlying NSX network fabric. Collaboration & Support: work closely with application, network, and security teams to support business requirements; provide technical guidance and support to project teams during deployments and migrations; develop and refine operational dashboards using tools like vRealize Operations (vROps) or Prometheus to track KPIs and SLOs; participate in on‑call rotation to provide Level 2/3 operational support for critical incidents. Compliance & Security: ensure adherence to organizational security policies and regulatory requirements; conduct regular audits and implement necessary controls. Reporting & Documentation: maintain comprehensive operational documentation; generate regular reports on platform performance, incidents, and changes. Qualifications & Skills Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience). Experience: 3+ years in IT operations with hands‑on experience in AVI Networks and VMware NSX; experience with network virtualization, load balancing, and cloud infrastructure. Technical Skills: strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, firewalls, routing, and switching; proficient in managing AVI Networks (VMware NSX Advanced Load Balancer) and VMware NSX; good knowledge of AVI Networks/NSX Advanced Load Balancer administration, deployment models, and core features (VS, Pools, Health Monitors, DataScript). NSX‑T expertise: strong operational experience with logical switching, routing, and Distributed Firewall (DFW). Proficiency in network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF) and application protocols (HTTP/S, DNS). Cloud knowledge: familiarity with public cloud networking concepts (AWS, Azure, or GCP) as they relate to NSX and AVI deployments. Automation: experience with scripting and automation (Python, PowerShell, or Ansible) is an asset.
