Senior QA Automation Engineer

Our client is seeking a QA Automation Engineer to quickly support and strengthen automated testing across digital platforms. This role is ideal for a technically strong, inquisitive tester who thinks like a developer, takes ownership of quality, and can design and maintain automation solutions with minimal direction. Duration: 6 months + ext Location: Hybrid Toronto Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain automated test scripts for web and API-based applications Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and other QA resources to understand system behaviour and risk Translate functional and non-functional requirements into effective automated test coverage Identify gaps in test coverage and proactively recommend automation strategies Debug test failures by analyzing application behaviour, logs, and test results Ensure automation is maintainable, scalable, and aligned with CI/CD pipelines Contribute to improving overall QA processes, frameworks, and best practices Participate in sprint ceremonies and support fast-moving delivery timelines Requirements 6+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, with a strong focus on test automation Proven ability to design automation frameworks or significantly contribute to them Strong developer mindset: understands application architecture, data flows, and APIs Experience automating modern web applications (SPA frameworks, APIs, services) Comfortable working with at least one modern automation tool (e.g., Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, etc.) Ability to quickly learn new tools, frameworks, and domains Solid understanding of CI/CD concepts and how automation fits into delivery pipelines Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in a contract environment Seniority level Mid-Senior level Employment type Contract Job function Information Technology and Quality Assurance Industries Software Development and Insurance and Employee Benefit Funds #J-18808-Ljbffr
