Operate wastewater treatment systems in West Kelowna while building SCADA, PLC, and plant maintenance experience in a full-time training role.
The Treatment Plant Operator in Training assists with daily operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Working under the Senior Treatment Plant Operator, this position supports Ministry of Environment requirements, Operating Certificate obligations, environmental criteria, and public health protection. Duties include equipment inspection, process monitoring, preventative maintenance, and operational adjustments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, lubrication, and equipment cleaning
- Monitor, operate, and adjust SCADA and PLC systems
- Inspect equipment and troubleshoot process issues
- Monitor BNR operations and recommend maintenance changes
- Coordinate contractors, collect data, and prepare reports
Requirements:
- EOCP wastewater treatment Operator-in-Training certification or immediate eligibility
- Wastewater Treatment Plants Volume 1 course or equivalent
- Grade 12 and valid British Columbia driver’s licence
- Proficiency with computerized systems, including SCADA
- Strong communication, judgment, organization, and teamwork skills
Develop wastewater operations expertise through SCADA monitoring, equipment maintenance, BNR adjustments, and certification progress in West Kelowna.
