Overview Athabasca University's Learning Services Tutorial Department is seeking an Academic Expert/Marker for the following course: COMP 435 Multimedia Technologies. Qualifications and Experience Required A minimum of a Master's degree is required (PhD preferred) in Computer Science or a closely related area. Expertise in the theory and technology of multimedia data representation, compression, processing, and networking. Strong experience implementing multimedia algorithms and applications with programming languages such as C++, Python, and Java, and multimedia libraries (e.g., OpenCV, VideoLAN, and OpenGL). Teaching experience at a post‑secondary level. Experience in distance learning, familiarity with digital teaching technologies, and online course delivery preferred. Experience with adult education and Moodle online course delivery considered an asset. Responsibilities The successful candidate will provide academic assistance to students, mark assignments, and assign and record final grades. The candidate must maintain high academic standards, accurate student records, and return student work promptly within the University's required service standards. Requirements Excellent communication, organizational, administrative and online/computer skills are required. Candidates must own or have access to a computer and internet capable of running any applications needed for tutorial support.
