Casual Environmental Services II (Housekeeper/Cleaner) Location: AMHB Claresholm, Claresholm Center for Mental Health and Addictions Posting End Date: 16-MAR-2026 Employee Class: Casual/Relief Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Weekends, On Call Hours per Shift: Varies Minimum Salary: $20.06 per hour; Maximum Salary: $21.93 per hour Classification: Environmental II Union: AUPE GSS Unit & Program: Nutrition, Food, Linen and Environmental Services Responsibilities Safely clean and disinfect assigned hospital areas (patient rooms, treatment rooms, emergency and operating rooms, washrooms, offices, corridors). Perform cleanup of blood and body fluids, wash walls, and use ladders/step stools to change privacy curtains. Routine floor care with mops, scrubbers, and buffers. Remove waste (garbage, biomedical, recycling) to designated holding areas. Operate industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance, thorough washing of ceilings and windows, and empty hazardous waste. Provide training or orientation to Environmental staff when required. Work with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining a kind, approachable, and professional demeanor toward patients, families, and healthcare staff. Required Qualifications Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Knowledge and operation of a computer, including Microsoft Office. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift. Physically capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 30 lbs of force. Additional Required Qualifications Must read, write, speak, and follow written and verbal instructions in English. Ability to climb ladders/step stools, squat, bend, and reach in all directions (including overhead). Hand strength sufficient to perform repetitive wiping, wringing, and gripping motions. Ability to independently push and pull up to 30 lbs, and lift up to 50 lbs (e.g., push linen carts, lift soiled linen/garbage bags). Wear personal protective equipment (e.g., surgical/N95 masks, eye protection) for extended periods; a clean‑shaven face is required for respirator fit testing. Dependable, cooperative, with a customer‑service attitude and able to work with minimal supervision. Basic smartphone knowledge required. Preferred Qualifications Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Knowledge of hospital housekeeping policy and procedures. Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting in a healthcare environment. Customer service experience. Leadership experience such as working leader, shift lead, trainer, or equivalent.
