Job Details Location: Vancouver Employment Type: Temporary Full Time Workplace Type: Hybrid Duration: 8 months Positions Available: 1 Start Date: January 5, 2026 Application Deadline: Rolling basis For this exciting position, we are specifically targeting students who have a background in Geology, Chemistry or related fields. The Geochemistry Database Co‑op will be part of the Geoscience, Reserves & Mining (GRM) team, within the Technical and Planning function. The GRM team are a diverse group of multi‑disciplinary subject matter experts that use the fundamental principles of geoscience to better understand Teck’s assets. The primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be to assess geochemical data and apply accepted quality controls (QC), thus helping ensure that these foundational datasets are fit for use. These foundational geochemical assay databases are the fundamental inputs which inform foundational geoscience datasets and ultimately resource and reserve calculations. This role provides an excellent opportunity to improve skills in data analysis and data compilation, while gaining valuable insights into industry standard processes. The ideal candidate is keen to deepen their understanding of the application of geochemistry and quality control principles. This position reports to the Senior Project Chemist, based in Vancouver, with the option to work remotely up to two days per week. If you are not currently located in the area of this co‑op position, you must be willing to either commute or relocate to the surrounding area for the entire duration of the co‑op term. You must also currently be a student enrolled in a Canadian post‑secondary institution and will be enrolled throughout the duration of the co‑op term (you will also be returning back to the post‑secondary institution once the co‑op term is completed). Proof of a valid work permit will also be required, if applicable. The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity. Key Responsibilities Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures Support the application of robust quality control principles on analytical data generated and reported by third parties and internally, helping ensure the geochemical data meets Teck’s requirements and is fit for purpose Apply statistical techniques to measure accuracy and precision of analytical results and communicate results through email, memo, phone calls to project collaborators Assist in continuous improvement through the streamlining and standardization of Teck’s geochemical databases across all sites and operations Engage with, and support projects across Teck with their geochemical/analytical needs Develop and evaluate new insights and technologies to help improve the way we do business Qualifications Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Chemistry or related fields Able to build and nurture positive working relationships with individuals of a diverse set of backgrounds Familiarity with common statistical techniques for evaluating analytical data for accuracy and precision (standard deviation, mean, median, etc.) Previous experience applying QC controls to analytical data or in a production environment is beneficial Familiarity with relational data management solutions such as Access, acQuire Datashed, etc. is considered an asset Familiarity with GIS and geoscientific software packages (ArcPro, ArcGIS Online, LeapFrog, Imago, Krux, ioGAS) is considered an asset Attention to detail and ability to identify trends/anomalies in data Curiosity about geochemistry, analytical chemistry and/or data science Knowledge of scripting (T‑SQL, Python, R, etc.) and common office productivity tools (Excel, Word, Outlook) is considered an asset Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate sophisticated ideas to all audiences Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and platforms quickly, accurately, and efficiently Experience in geochemical laboratories and some knowledge of common analytical techniques such as AAS, ICP‑AES, ICP‑MS, pXRF, XRF would be considered an asset About Teck At Teck, your work matters—to the world, to our communities and to your future.
