Assistant Store Manager – Ottawa Region Location: 1021 Cyrville Road, Unit 1, Ottawa, Ontario, K1J 7S3 Position Title: Assistant Store Manager – Ottawa RegionPosition Type: PermanentRequisition ID: 44941Banner: Food BasicsEmployment Type: Full-Time Summary Assists the Store Manager in day‑to‑day management of the store, including growing sales, staffing, merchandising, expense control, providing a safe environment for employees and customers and delivering a superior shopping experience. Also, operates within company policy, legislation and collective agreements. Responsibilities Assists the Store Manager to achieve or exceed weekly, period and fiscal year store goals and objectives (sales, profit, margin, shrink, labour). Works with the Store Manager to implement merchandising programs and processes to maximize operational efficiencies and profitability. Works with Department Managers to establish productivity goals and operational standards. Ensures merchandise is ordered and displayed according to company planograms. Ensures the store is maintained in accordance with health and safety regulations. Provides leadership by hiring, training, directing and developing a customer‑focused staff. Ensures a customer‑friendly shopping environment. Actively utilizes new technology initiatives, ensuring own and staff proficiency. Maintains awareness of competitive activity in the local market and provides recommendations to Operations. Acts in store‑based initiatives to enhance community involvement and support local activities. Creates and maintains strong relationships with vendors and union representatives. Qualifications College or University education. 3 to 5 years progressive management experience. Intermediate Microsoft Office skills. Good business acumen. Strong communication and organizational skills. Strong leadership skills. Strong time‑management skills.
