Zoning Officer

The Cree First Nation of Waswanipi is currently seeking a resourceful and highly motivated individual to fill the position of Zoning Officer. The core function of the Zoning Officer is to ensure compliance with zoning regulations and managing insurance matters related to capital projects. This position requires a detail oriented individual with excellent communication skills and a strong understanding of zoning laws and files. Monitor and interpret local zoning codes and regulations. Assist in obtaining zoning permits and variances when necessary. Conduct zoning research and analysis to assess the impact of zoning changes Coordinate insurance requirements for construction and maintenance projects, including general liability, worker’s compensation, and property insurance Ensure all CFNW properties are all insured. Ensure all CFNW employees carry a valid license on vehicles and machines. Report and Follow up to SAAQ any update and/or removal of registrations Prepare and maintain comprehensive records of zoning approvals, permits, and insurance documents. The Zoning Officer reports directly to the Capital Projects Manager. EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS A two-year college diploma or university degree in a relevant field; OR two to four years of related experience and/or training; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Fluency in Cree is required; proficiency in English is essential; French is considered an asset. Strong ability to write reports, proposals, and business correspondence.
