The Hamlet of Igloolik is a community located in Nunavut and home to more than 2,000 people.The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is responsible for the administration of the community as outlined in the Hamlets Act. Reporting to the Mayor and Council, the CAO has oversight of: General Administration & Finance Public Works Water & Sewage Program Garbage Collection & the Landfill Recreation Bylaw & Fire Department Lands Administration Community Economic Development Other Contracts & Contribution Agreements The CAO is also required to execute the policies of Council established by bylaw or as otherwise directed. The CAO is to advise Council on operational matters and legislation as it relates to the matters at hand. The CAO is in charge of all Human Resource matters for the organization. The CAO is in charge Capital and Strategic Planning for the community. The CAO is required to develop an operating budget for the municipal corporation on an annual basis, as well as other projects from time to time. The CAO is the point of contact for many external stakeholders, including various government departments, contractors, suppliers, and non-profits. Applicants will have a background in finance or administration. Education will also be in one of these fields and while not a pivotal factor, will have a meaningful influence.
