Currently, they are searching for a highly skilled and motivated Chief Engineer to join their dedicated team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of maintaining and optimizing the functionality of their property's physical infrastructure. You'll oversee both day-to-day operations and long-term strategies for the Maintenance Department, ensuring the upkeep of guestrooms, exterior areas (such as façades, sidewalks, and parking lots), and public and back-of-house spaces. Your responsibilities will encompass scheduling and overseeing regular maintenance for all hotel equipment, from HVAC systems to laundry facilities, and mechanical equipment. To excel in this position, a strong systems orientation, impeccable organizational skills, and effective leadership abilities are essential. DESCRIPTION

  • Lead and manage the engineering department, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency in maintaining the hotel's physical assets.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the maintenance, repair, and improvement of all mechanical, electrical, and structural systems.
  • Plan and coordinate preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and ensure the uninterrupted operation of hotel facilities.
  • Utilize a reverse engineering mindset to anticipate and mitigate potential issues before they arise, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Collaborate with other department heads to prioritize and execute projects in alignment with the hotel's goals and budgetary constraints.
  • Adhere to all required purchasing policies and controls, including, but not limited to, all outside contractor bids, budgets and schedules.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, expenses, and equipment inventory.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements relevant to the field of hotel engineering.
  • Follow prescribed safety procedures for personnel and equipment by the company and Health and Safety legislation.
  • Responsible for the development and training of fire and emergency procedures for the hotel.
  • Ability to work varied shifts and open availability for on-call emergencies


REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience in a senior-level engineering role within the hospitality industry.
  • Strong systems orientation with a deep understanding of mechanical, electrical, and structural systems.
  • Strong understanding of facility management (sanitation, maintenance, operations)
  • Certified in First Aid and WHMIS
  • Knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration, boiler equipment, generator, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, painting, carpentry and finishing skills, kitchen & laundry equipment, and energy conservation.
  • Strong knowledge of emergency procedures
  • Exceptional organizational and planning skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in computer software and systems, including maintenance management software, CAD programs, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with the confidence to articulate ideas and strategies at a senior level.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining a customer-centric focus.
