Senior Mechanical Engineer DarkVision , part of Koch Engineered Solutions, is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of state‑of‑the‑art ultrasonic imaging technologies. The role focuses on tackling complex engineering problems with a first‑principles approach to deliver robust solutions. Overview As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you will develop mechanical parts and assemblies for ultrasonic imaging products that must survive extreme conditions, including pressures up to 15,000 psi and temperatures up to 150 °C. The position is on‑site full‑time at our HQ in North Vancouver, BC. Responsibilities Carry out detailed design of mechanical parts and assemblies for electronics packaging, pressure vessels, sensor carriers, dynamic structural elements and fluid handling systems. Perform engineering calculations to assess system viability and performance, including the use of numerical tools such as FEA. Collaborate with external contract manufacturers to source custom and off‑the‑shelf components. Assemble prototypes of new products or improvements to existing products and support their testing, troubleshooting, and validation. Determine testing requirements for new devices or components, and design custom test equipment for accelerated life testing. Collaborate with broader engineering teams to gather cross‑functional design requirements and communicate design interdependencies and trade‑offs. Occasionally travel to field offices to support final testing and commissioning of devices prior to commercial deployment. Qualifications – Basic University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or Engineering Physics. At least 5 years of experience as a mechanical design engineer. Professional experience creating 3D models and assemblies using CAD software (Inventor, SolidWorks, Fusion 360 or Creo). Experience designing electromechanical assemblies, such as electronics packaging and thermal management systems. Experience creating appropriately toleranced 2D drawings for external fabrication. Experience interfacing with external vendors to procure custom parts. Hands‑on experience assembling and testing prototypes. Preferred Experience 8+ years of experience as a mechanical design engineer. Experience designing enclosures for sensitive electronics to withstand shock and vibration. Experience with high‑pressure and high‑temperature systems and sealing solutions. Familiarity with manufacturing methods such as CNC machining, 3‑D printing and laser/water‑jet cutting. Basic microcontroller programming (Arduino, etc.) and programming skills (MATLAB, Python, or similar) for data analysis. Salary Estimated range: $120,000 – $160,000 per year, payable with variable bonus options.
