CSH Electrical/Avionics Engineer – Canadian SAR Helicopter Company: IMP Aerospace & Defence Requisition ID: 2279 Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Job Summary: Responsible to the CH149 Engineering Supervisor (Fleet Support) for the conduct of life cycle management and engineering support of CH149 Search and Rescue Helicopter Avionics/Electrical System components including communications, navigation, display systems, emergency avionics system, engine electronic systems and wiring. What You Will Do Provide engineering and technical support to Main Operating Bases (MOB). Monitor the health of components and systems within assigned Air Transport Association (ATA) chapter of responsibility. Assess airworthiness risk including performing airworthiness impact assessments (AWIA) and Records of Airworthiness Risk Management (RARM). Conduct effective communications and liaise on technical matters with representatives from MOBs, Department of National Defence, Original Equipment Manufacturers, Design Support Network, and Design Authorities. Develop preventative measures, identify trends, and determine fleet impact on Flight Safety (FS) Occurrences. Develop standard and non‑standard repairs for damage to electrical and avionics system components. Provide support and technical input to major program meetings (Technical Working Group Meeting, International User Group Meeting, Maintenance Review Meeting, Technical Review Meetings, etc.). Develop and implement changes to the CH149 Approved Maintenance Program where required. Review and assess OEM design changes and provide recommendations to the Senior Design Engineer. Inform the Senior Design Engineer of in‑service issues that are determined to result in degradation to aircraft safety. Support the activities of the department in respect to the CH149 Reliability Program, CH149 Corrosion Working Group and Electrical Wiring and Interconnection Systems Integrity Monitoring Program and aircraft software in‑service support. Provide support for in‑service activities related to aircraft software and cyber security requirements for the upgraded CH149 fleet, as required. Provide support during the CH149 fleet's transition through the Cormorant Mid‑Life Upgrade (CMLU) program, including activities such as Maintenance Program Review, SME input, and assistance with transition‑related tasks. Conduct activities associated with implementing and monitoring corrective action regarding service issue reporting, special inspections, service bulletins and airworthiness directives. Perform airworthiness functions as a Design Engineer (when authorized). In extraordinary circumstances and when required by operational necessity, provide weekend and after‑hours support to SAR Operations. Other tasks as assigned. What You Will Bring Degree in Electrical Engineering, Diploma in Engineering Technology or Aircraft Maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Extensive knowledge of rotary‑wing aircraft electrical system components, including communications, navigation, display systems, emergency avionics system, engine electronic systems and wiring. Clear and effective written and oral communication. Ability to manage projects and tasks. Knowledge of airworthiness regulations and standards. 2 or more years experience in an aircraft engineering environment, or 4 or more years experience in an aircraft maintenance environment is desirable. Sound interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with people at all levels within the organization and with outside agencies. Team‑player mentality and good self‑discipline with ability to work independently when required. Demonstrated ability to logically analyze information and identify underlying causal relationships. Eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances.
