What you can expect to do here Participate in the design of plans, preliminary estimations and details for transportation, commercial, and industrial building projects. Electrical design for building power distribution, fire alarm, grounding, lightning protection, emergency power and life safety generator systems. Provide day-to-day guidance to design team; be the design lead for their projects, client-facing and representing WSP. Prepare calculations, conceptual and detail design, technical specification, installation details, permit/tender/post-tender services, and perform contract administration services to review shop drawings, RFIs, etc. Prepare contract documents, professional signing and sealing; work with project managers, senior engineers, designers, 3D modelers to submit the project for permit and tender. What you’ll bring to WSP Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and registered P.Eng. 10 to 15 years of experience designing electrical systems for transportation, commercial, and industrial building projects, including power distribution, grounding, fire alarm, fire protection, lightning protection, arc flash study, emergency power and life safety. Complete understanding of building electrical engineering requirements, codes and standards, including Ontario Building Codes (OBC), Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), CSA, NFPA, IEEE, ASHRAE, etc. Strong technical background to guide and mentor intermediate and junior engineers. Liaise with contractors and defend the electrical designs. Review and prepare installation details, provide technical calculations and specifications. Review the design and provide quality control for all design packages prior to submission.
