Senior BI Developer We are seeking a mid‑senior to senior‑level BI Developer who will bridge business and IT, working across data engineering, data analysis, and dashboarding. The role builds a robust data backend, supports data governance, and aligns with IT compliance. Key Responsibilities Data Architecture & Development Collaborate with data analysts to understand data needs and translate them into technical solutions. Design, develop, and maintain scalable data architectures, tables, and pipelines. Implement, build, and extract data in a warehouse/data lake using SQL Server (on‑prem) and Azure cloud technologies in collaboration with IT. Collaborate and assist in new data acquisition and examinations. Design and develop data integration packages as part of ETL/ELT processes. Document processes and development. Share knowledge and promote best practices related to data architecture, acquisition, integration, warehousing, and governance, including creating documentation, holding training sessions, and participating in cross‑functional meetings. Cloud Integration Utilize Azure services (ADLS, Databricks, ADF) and Snowflake to centralize and enhance data availability. Migrate on‑prem data solutions to cloud platforms where applicable. Data Governance Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all platforms. Work with leadership to manage and review controls for all data integrations. Develop and maintain a data inventory in the analytics warehouse, including models, attributes, reporting inventory, ad‑hoc data marts, and user access. Own the single source of truth conceptual model and ensure all enrichments adhere to design principles. Collaborate with IT to align privacy/security and access to data with organizational standards. Provide thought leadership and support executive decision making around data usage, enterprise standards, and governance policies. Implement best practices for data governance and compliance. Lead project management for data strategy and governance initiatives. Technical Support & Collaboration Provide technical guidance and support to the BI team and other stakeholders. Collaborate with IT to leverage Azure DevOps for version control, CI/CD pipelines, and project tracking. Business Intelligence Enablement Support the analysis, design, development, and implementation of new reporting requirements. Assist with development and optimization of Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models. Assist in designing, developing, and implementing Microsoft Power Platform solutions. Business Acumen Apply industry knowledge of life insurance, financial reporting, and brokerage to inform data solutions. Communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders to align solutions with business goals and corporate strategy. Education, Experience, and Skills Education & Experience Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field. 5+ years of experience in data engineering and business intelligence development. Technical Skills Proficient in SQL Server, SSIS, and T‑SQL programming. Experience with Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Databricks, and Azure Data Factory. Expertise in Snowflake data warehousing. Strong Power BI development skills. Familiarity with Azure DevOps and agile methodologies. Experience with version control systems such as GitHub. Knowledge of data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts. Soft Skills Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in French is a plus. Strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and support cross‑functional teams. Experience with planning, reviews, and retrospectives. Demonstrated supervisory skills are an asset. PowerPoint and presentation skills. Tools & Software Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, Word. Familiarity with other BI tools and programming languages is a plus. Business Knowledge Understanding of life insurance, financial reporting, and brokerage industries is highly desirable.
