As our company and services continue to grow, we have MULTIPLE positions available and a continual need to add experienced Red Seal/Journeyman Field Heavy Equipment Technicians who specialize in Hydraulic Shovels and CAT 797 Haul Truck repair and maintenance to our teams.


These positions are in safety-sensitive environments on a 14/14 rotation within mine sites in the Alberta Oil Sands in the Fort McMurray/Wood Buffalo Region.


We are happy to add talented technicians to our team that are local to the region as well as commuters to the region. Our commuters may be from anywhere within Canada , however we also support international technicians looking to relocate and work in Canada.


Red Seal/Journeyman Technicians in the Oil Sands will earn $53.59 - $56.41/hour as a BASE rate . The regular scheduled rotation allows for 80 hours of regular + 88 hours of overtime.


Compensation Plan consists of the BASE Rate +

+ 6.5% of gross earnings for hours worked

+ Commuter Supports (up to $1,000/month) for eligible individuals commuting to the region

+ Compensation Package Extras : Matching RRSP program, vacation pay, sick time benefits, group benefits (life, critical illness & disability insurance, extended health, dental, vision), allowances (location, boot & tool), bonus structure, accommodations and transportation to and from site


The Job

An excellent HET will be:

The person in this position will be expected to work 12 hours per shift on a 14/14 rotation, starting as early as 5:45, rotating sets between days and nights.


Accommodations are provided through shared company housing and the person in this position will be responsible to get to Fort McMurray on their own (don't forget we provide Commuter Supports ) . Transportation from the accommodations to site, return, are also provided.


The HET will:

  • Specialize in CAT 797 Haul Truck and/or Hydraulic Shovel Maintenance & Repair
  • Check dozers, haul trucks, excavators and other heavy construction and mining equipment for proper performance
  • Inspect equipment for defects and malfunctions
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
  • Repair and replace defective parts, components and/or systems
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and that it meets or exceeds manufacturer's specifications
  • Majority of work is field work; required to work independently and as part of a team
