Jr Math/Science Teacher

We are searching for a high energy, excitable, community orientated teacher to complement our team in Youngstown School. Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching Math and Science at the junior high level, however, new graduates with successful practicums will be considered. Involvement in extra-curricular activities within the school and the community are required.

This is a full time temporary teaching position to commence the first day of the 2024-2025 school year. This is a maternity leave replacement position with the possibility of an extension. You will prepare and deliver engaging lesson plans with interactive learning activities. You will exhibit sound knowledge in effective teaching strategies by creating a stimulating learning environment using creative techniques to deliver quality content. Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to learning is essential. Use of technology and a variety of teaching strategies to reach all learners will be most beneficial, as is working within a video conferencing teaching/learning environment.

The Village of Youngstown is located in southeastern Alberta approximately 50 kms east of Hanna along Highway 9. The business region is made up of agriculture (ranching and mixed farming), trades and energy-related businesses. Youngstown School is a rural K-12 school with approximately 54 students. The Youngstown School encourages hands on learning through the development and operation of an energy efficient greenhouse and its systems customized to the Alberta math and science curriculums.
