Senior Principal Structural Engineer

Overview Senior Structural Supervisor with a minimum of 12+ years of post‑graduate experience, specifically in building structural supervision within the UAE/GCC region. Middle East experience is mandatory. The role involves technical oversight and quality assurance of structural works on‑site, ensuring compliance with international codes, local authority requirements, and project specifications. The individual will review and approve contractor technical submittals, shop drawings, and calculations, provide guidance to inspection teams, and coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams to resolve site issues. Strong technical expertise in structural engineering, proficiency in software tools (AutoCAD, SAP ETABS, SAFE), and basic BIM/REVIT knowledge are essential. The role also demands excellent communication skills for client interaction, technical meetings, and reporting, along with the ability to adopt innovative solutions for site challenges. Your role Experience and knowledge in using international Codes and standards. Experience in structural supervision projects. Excellent presentation and communication abilities. Experience in using structural software such as AutoCAD, SAP ETABS, SAFE, STAAD, RAM. Basic knowledge of BIM and the REVIT platform. Knowledge of local authorities' requirements. Background in structural design. Reviews and approves all contractor structural/civil technical submittals & sub‑contractors shop drawings and calculations (such as reinforcement, post‑tension, pilling, shoring, scaffolding, precast, waterproofing, etc.). Leads and guides inspection teams on‑site from a technical point. Replies to RFIs and coordinates with other disciplines and design teams. Performs technical research and technical reports. Follow‑up with site observations and non‑compliances. Reviews and deals with design calculations, analysis models and BIM models. Works independently and as part of a team to complete specific supervision activities assigned (During Site Visits). Responsible for providing approvals for the contractor's structural technical submittals. Collaborates/communicates with other disciplines regarding coordination issues and day‑to‑day supervision activities. Supports the inspection team to resolve any site activity issues. Adopts creative and innovative solutions to site problems/clashes and develops appropriate supportive technical documentation/research reports. Coordinates with the design team regarding the specialist's packages approvals by authorities. Informing and discussing design change decisions with colleagues to ensure project requirements are met.
